Visit Activities:

Admissions Interview: Yes - The staff went out of their way to ensure my daughter was not rushed through her interview. My daughter thought it went well, conversational, not stressful. The staff was extremely pleasant.

Information Session: Yes - Lots of good information shared. The Staff giving the talk (Daniela?) did a great job in informing the students about the app reading process and how to be successful. Excellent job!!!

Campus Tour: Yes - Took a long time and is not handicapped accessible during the campus construction. But my daughter and husband said the guide was a font of knowledge. Seeing the dorm room sizewas an eyeopener.

Classroom Visit: No - wasn't able to go to a class

Smiling students helped us find our way. We didn't have a chance to talk with them in depth but the women we did meet we helpful and charming.

could not be more impressed with the personal attention the staff paid to each girl. Interviews were 30 min and they were all smiles and willing to answer questions. A very comfortable environment

Appearance of Campus:

If the construction were not in process I think the campus would have looked a lot nicer.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:

The construction made things messy but they were doign the best they could with what they had to work with. And the construction project will be done fairly soon.

Dormitories:

of a good size for NYC, there was room for two single beds, two desks, two freestanding wardrobe/closets and 6 feet between the beds to walk in.

Security/Safety:
5 - Excellent

The campus is entirely surrounded by an iron fence, and security is at each entrance. Husband and daughter visited on a Friday night to see how loud it is, and it isn't a loud party atmosphere.

Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent

My daughter fell in love immediately and as a parent I would feel comfortable with her there, too. Amazing neighborhood, compact, but charming campus, and pleasant students.

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:

nice family neighborhood, very quiet for NYC, cute restaurants and the normal selection of NYC stores... drug store, grocery store 1 block away, chocolatier, books, drycleaners, shoe repair, deli, etc

City/Town/Community:
5 - Excellent

NYC is as big a part of the learning as the campus itself. What more can be said about having this cosmopolitan, international city a subway ride away?

Campus Visit Notes for Barnard College

Visit Description:

lovely school.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

We stayed at Marriott Times Square, about a 20 minute/ $15 cab ride to the admissions office

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

did not eat nearby

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Campus is not currently easily handicapped accessible. If in a wheelchair, do not count on going on a tour until after construction is done. They will make it work if you must, but it won't be ea
