Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - Not too long. Informative and pleasant. The room it was held in was beautiful, and it was a much smaller group than I've had at some other schools, so it felt very intimate.

Campus Tour: Yes - The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. All of the girls we met/passed by were very welcoming and happy. The atmosphere was very warm.

Campus:

Everyone was very helpful and nice, and they all seemed happy to be there. I didn't feel the sense of cutthroat competition that I've felt at similarly prestigious institutions.

I did not have all that much contact with the staff (the tours are student led), but from what I saw they were all very nice.

The dorms were not impressive on the inside, but most aren't. On the whole, it was quite beautiful, with an ideal location. The Diana Center was particularly lovely.

The dorms could've been a bit cleaner, but otherwise good.

I think just for location and view they earn a lot of points. They aren't bad on the inside, just average. They are beautiful from the outside.

Area Immediately Around Campus:

Morningside heights seems like a great neighborhood, and there were tons of restaurants and food carts, running the gambit in price. There is a metro stop right outside the gates.

New York City- 'nuff said.

Campus Visit Notes for Barnard College

Visit Description:

Honestly, my whole experience was wonderful. For me, the most noteworthy thing is how friendly and welcoming the students were. Despite the ivy-covered gates and perfectly manicured lawn, Barnard felt much more accessible than many of the schools I had seen. There was a strong sense of community.
