Bowdoin College Visit Report by Emily0729
Admissions Interview: Yes - I had an interview with an alumni, which went very well. He was welcoming and informative while also being easy to talk to.
Information Session: Yes - I didn't love the way it was set up--first there was time for questions, then we listened to the director talk about the admissions process. A little choppy but still informative.
Campus Tour: Yes - Our tour guide was excellent. He knew his material well and I got a great sense of tight-knight community that is Bowdoin. He seemed to know lots of people and everyone we passed was very friendly.
Classroom Visit: Yes - I sat in on a French class (I highly recommend sitting in on a class in a subject you want to pursue) and it was pretty nice. Rooms were equipped with macbooks, projectors, and chalkboards.
Campus Visit Notes for Bowdoin College
After I sat in on a French class, I met with the professor. She was more than happy to sit down and talk with me about the French and Romance Languages programs, the study abroad options, and the specific classes that she taught. It made me feel like the professors really care about the students and want to make everyone feel welcome. All of the students I talked to (at least 15) were thrilled with Bowdoin and are very happy they chose to come.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
Stay somewhere close to campus--it's sort of hard to navigate around Brunswick late at night if you don't know where you're going.
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
Anywhere on the main strip right off of the campus.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
Make sure you see the ocean--it's only 2.5 miles from campus and it's beautiful!
