Visit Activities:

Information Session: Yes - I was there for the Bowdoin Experience, so i had more informal sessions and i could ask my host, or any student i happened to meet, whatever questions crossed my mind.

Campus Tour: Yes - it was a more informal tour my by host. the campus was gorgeous even though it was overcast all four days that i was there. you could walk to where you need to be in 2 mins. loved the weather.

Classroom Visit: Yes - yes i sat in on 4 or 5 classes. the calls sizes were a max of 35 kids i would say and the smallest class was 7 or 8. i loved the atmosphere and i felt that for the most part, it was very intellectual.

Campus:

Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
if i ever needed anything or had a question to ask, there would be someone there to help. the friendliness was second-nature. i didnt meet a single mean/rude person

Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:

i didnt really have any interaction with any staff members, except for Elmer and Rhoan and they were great guys. it was a very relaxed atmosphere.

Appearance of Campus:

unfortunately, it was very overcast for the entire time that i was there, and it even snowed. but even so, i still loved the campus. everything was clean-- no litter or anything like that.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
all of the buildings seemed relatively new and well-kept.

Dormitories:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
i stayed at winthrop, but i also went into osher and i would say that in terms of dorms, i liked osher better, even though the rooms themselves were smaller. winthrop is closer to everything though.

Security/Safety:
3 - Good
3 - Good
i remember walking home from osher one night and it felt very sketchy, because i was walking through a poorly-lit wooded area. but everyone raves about the security there so maybe i was being paranoid

Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent

loved it.

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:
4 - Very Good
4 - Very Good
very quaint and adorable, i loved it. anyone i came in contact with was very friendly.

City/Town/Community:
what i saw of brunswick was really tiny, but i liked the quaint feel of it all. it felt very homey and comfortable. it seems like a very intimate community

Campus Visit Notes for Bowdoin College

Visit Description:

for the most part, while i was there, i was left to my own devices, as though i was an actual student. i really liked the fact that i wasnt required to go to a bunch of info sessions. i liked the casual and relaxed atmosphere.i was allowed to explore every nook and cranny of the campus, so i could get my own feel for it. almost everyone that i talked to loved the place and it was hard to find anything bad to say about it. the food is absolutely delicious; it lived up to every food review. all of the food was fresh and amazing. it'll be hard to acclimate myself to such good food and to try not to gorge myself at every meal. one thing that i wish i had done was talk to some people from the chem-free dorms, so that i could compare my experience with what it would be like to live in a chem-free dorm. i liked that there wasnt too intense of an academic undercurrent, but by no means were there slackers. i saw kids studying in the various study rooms in the dorms. and there were definitely some parties. i know that there were a lot of kids that i met who were also there for the Experience, decided that they would be going to bowdoin in the fall because of the time they had in April. I am completely enchanted by bowdoin and i cant wait until i go.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

i dont know about dining off-campus, but for dessert, i would definitely recommend Gelato Fiasco, because it is simply devine and not terribly expensive.
