Visit Activities:


Information Session: No - Good - 30 minutes with a presenter & slides. We were given a handout complete with information on the college.

Campus Tour: Yes - Very nice tour given by a student (1.5 hours). We ran into the college president, who talked with us. The tour included a look at the dorms.

Classroom Visit: Yes - We went on an engineering tour for 30 minutes given by a very nice Electrical Engineering professor. We got to see labs & how small the classes are.

Everyone was very friendly & helpful. People seemed happy to be there & proud of their school.

Admission staff even led us directly to the restrooms (after a long drive to the campus). They were very helpful and good at answering questions.



Appearance of Campus:

A beautiful campus, with a river running through it. Gardens well maintained.

Dormitories:

The dorms seemed like typical college dorms. At Chico, it may be easier to get a double (rather than a triple at a lot of State colleges).



Security/Safety:

Overhead a security guard talking about something that needed to be done at the library. Seems like they know how to keep the campus running smoothly.

The downtown of Chico is right next to campus so students living on campus have access to the shops and restaurants.



City/Town/Community:

The town, like so many in California, is dealing with many unsheltered people. However, we didn't feel unsafe walking around the city.

Visit Description:

The recreation center was very well maintained & newly renovated. It has a pool, indoor track, weight machines, basketball courts, and exercise machines. Also all Chico sports games are free for students to attend.
