Visit Activities:

Admissions Interview: No - They didn't offer one this week, unfortunately

Information Session: Yes - It was pretty helpful; the woman was very good and also very enthusiastic. I had already seen the video that was shown (it's on the Carleton website) but it was still a good refresher.

Campus Tour: Yes - My tour was pretty good; the tour guide did not speak English as her first language and was a tiny bit hard to understand, but for the most part was very informative and gave us a very thorough tour.

Overnight Visit: Yes - My host and her roommates were great; all of the students were really friendly; and I actually got to play IM flag football. Overall I had a fantastic time (the food was good, too).

Classroom Visit: No - Unfortunately my host had an early morning class, but I got to see her homework load...

Campus:

Friendliness/Courtesy of Students:

Everyone I met was really nice and treated me like a real student; students were smart and academic but also really welcoming and didn't seem at all competitive.

Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:

I was on a soccer visit, but the coaches were very nice, as well as the few other staff members I met...

Appearance of Campus:

I love Carleton and I'm sure it's gorgeous in the summer...unfortunately, I visited in April, where everything is grey and the grass and trees are dead, but the layout was nice.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:
5 - Excellent
5 - Excellent
From what I saw, everything was nice, even the bathrooms.

Dormitories:
5 - Excellent

Compared to the dormitories I've seen elsewhere, the one I stayed in was like a palace (it was a triple that was actually supposed to be a double).

Overall Campus Impression:
5 - Excellent

Northfield as a whole feels very safe; my host actually left her purse in the library ("the Libe") while we went for coffee and it was fine.

Off-Campus:

Area Immediately Around Campus:

The woods/lanscape are beautiful

City/Town/Community:

Northfield is small, but cite and charming, even though it is in the middle of nowhere. Plus, the Twin Cities are fairly close.

Campus Visit Notes for Carleton College

Visit Description:

Basically, I adore Carleton. My host and all of the other students were great, and as a prospective student-athlete, I was thrilled that many of the team members I met were not only friendly but also academically and athletically driven. Predictably, the Northfield students also definitely know how to have a good time...

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

Blue Monday Coffee Shop is cute and serves good coffee/pastries for breakfast
