Cornell University Visit Report by swissmiss3
Information Session: Yes - I attended the CALS info session too. Both were worth the time and interesting.
Campus Tour: Yes - It rained, but nothing could have stopped me. I liked that place from the first, so getting wet meant nothing.
Campus Visit Notes for Cornell University
By all means, find the Dairy Bar and get some Cornell ice cream from their ag department. If you like that sort of stuff, like me, you will want to drive by their orchards and livestock areas.
Bring an umbrella and suitable clothes. Allow extra time to find a place to park and get to where you're going.
When we toured colleges last June, we visited a college, then drove to the next school's city that afternoon/evening, spent the night at that town, and then toured that new campus the following day so I was always fresh and rested when visiting schools. We arrived in Ithaca on a Saturday night and spent the next day sightseeing and enjoying the waterfalls. It was the perfect break to college touring. Perhaps that happy, relaxing time increased my appreciation for Cornell.
Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:
We stayed at a small motel outside of the city, along a country highway. It was clean, quiet, and reasonable. Not fancy, there were few guests, but it was exactly what we wanted.
Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:
There are some great small restaurants in Ithaca, along a pedestrians-only section.
Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):
Check out a shop where custom coffee mugs are made. Store is on the pedestrian-only section. Owner's GREAT and makes mugs for other colleges, not just Cornell.
