Beautiful, Gothic campus. It's almost a landmark in itself.

Some of the West Campus dorms are older, and in the process of being renovated, but bonus points for the fact that students essentially live in a cast

As many already know, Durham itself has a reputation for being a dangerous city, but the campus itself feels incredibly safe and there definitely secu

Wonderful tour, and it was easy to see why so many students love Duke. It's easily a place in which you could spend the day.

Area Immediately Around Campus:

Area immediately around West Campus very quiet. East Campus borders Durham, so there is slightly more to do and see.

Town-gown relations pretty strained, but to those willing to venture out Durham has a lot to offer.

Campus Visit Notes for Duke University


Visit Description:

During my campus visit I did the information session, tour, as well as an overnight visit. The information session was mostly facts and figure, while the tour and overnight visit were key in my decision to attend Duke. Everything was very well-organized, and students and staff were both friendly and welcoming. It is easily a campus in which families could spend the day.

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

Many on campus eateries. Student favorites include The Loop, located in the West Union, the Armadillo Grill in the Bryan Center, and Maddhatters'

Other Comments (Transportation, local attractions, parking, etc.):

Parking available at Undergraduate Admissions. The tour will cover West Campus. East Campus is accessible by buses from West Campus.
