Campus Visit Notes for Washington and Lee University

Visit Description:

A former college recruiter friend told me to expect to be wow-ed and I was! I am not easily impressed, being skeptical by nature and having seen many college campuses prior to this one, and I anticipated a letdown from all the hype before my visit. Thought my son would have the same reaction; nice visit but . . . let's move on. Boy, were we surprised!!! This is not the college for every student; very old school, very small, and very tradition laden, but if that appeals to you, W&L is definitely worth the visit. We loved it.

The info session was one of the best we've had in a dozen college visits. The presenter, a recent grad and admissions staff member, did a fabulous job of conveying the essence of the school and was truly enthusiastic about his alma mater. I appreciate that he gave us insight into the atmosphere of the campus rather than just reciting facts and figures from the brochures.

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

We drove in from Norther VA/D.C. that morning. Other than a very early departure (5am), an easy and do-able day trip thanks to minimal traffic and good roads.
