Visit Activities:

Admissions Interview: No - I did not have an on-campus admissions interview; however, I did have an interview with a local alumna. The interview went very well, and my interviewer was very nice and helpful.

Information Session: Yes - Wellesley did an excellent job with the information session. When I visited, there were alumnae present to talk about their experiences at Wellesley, which was very informative.

Campus Tour: Yes - The campus tour was pretty standard of small liberal arts school campus tours. My tour guide was very nice and answered questions pretty well.

Overnight Visit: Yes - My hostess, a current senior, was the sweetest thing, and she and her friends answered all of my questions about campus life. I really recommend doing an overnight stay if possible.

Classroom Visit: Yes - The professor was funny, and the material was pretty standard (I sat in on a 100-level political science class). The students varied from very vocal to pretty quiet. Class was discussion-based.

Campus:

Students were all very friendly and willing to give directions when needed. Some girls are more friendly than others, but that is to be expected anywhere.

Friendliness/Courtesy of Staff:

The staff go above and beyond the call of duty. One professor actually stopped the group of people I was walking with to introduce herself and talk to us about Paramecium Pond. Very sweet.

Appearance of Campus:

Gorgeous campus. The postcards they send in the mail don't do the campus justice.

Building/Facilities Maintenance/Cleanliness:

Also very nice. Some buildings are a little old, but everything is clean and well maintained. Also, again, the campus is gorgeous.

Dormitories:

The only gripe I have with the dormitories is some rooms are pretty small, and the dorm I stayed in had communal bathrooms. However, the dorms are beautiful, and public areas are clean.

Security/Safety:

Safety is not an issue; I felt very safe.

Great campus, great people.

Wellesley's a very nice little suburb. Unfortunately, it lacks the culture that a typical college town would have, but that's what Boston's for, or so I'm told. Also, surrounding s

I really can't speak too much for this, but it seems like a typical, affluent suburb.

Campus Visit Notes for Wellesley College

Visit Description:

I went to Spring Open Campus, an event hosted for accepted students. The SOC is very well done, giving freedom to those who want to explore on their owns and providing structure to those who want to be led by hand. There are a couple of events that everyone has to attend, I think, but these are events that should appeal to everyone (for instance, everyone went to listen to the president and alumnae speak). I really enjoyed the panels offered by alumnae, professors, and students. They're all very knowledgeable and very funny. I also enjoyed going to the Activity Fair, which is an event where some of the organizations on campus come together and talk to prospies (prospective students) and to perform. Also, I enjoyed the scavenger hunt (optional), an event in which you take pictures of various Wellesley "monuments" and post them to the Wellesley Facebook page. Honestly, I just kind of roamed around the campus with a group of fellow prospies. Other things I did were eat, sit in on a class, and sleep in a dorm (all of which were enjoyable but not particularly interesting to read/write about).

Hotel/Lodging Recommendations or Comments:

Great. There are a couple of local hotels. I assume that several have shuttle services, but my family drove, so that wasn't an issue. I stayed in a dorm on campus and slept on my hostess's f

Dining/Restaurant Recommendations or Comments:

I can't speak for dining offcampus, but I ate at Stone Davis. The food is very good for college food. Also, there was catering for a late night snack and brunch, which was very yummy.
